A look into the life of a self trained endurance athlete who has his sights set on completing his first Ironman. Louisville Kentucky, August 29th 2010. The site has been set, the plan has been written, now it is just time for implementation and execution. A goal is only achievable when it is clearly defined and measurable.

Sacrifice, commitment, dedication, persistence… These are words which I must ingrain in my subconscious in order to achieve my goals. Along with my gateway- goal of completing an Ironman, I have set several checkpoints for myself along the way to ensure I am on target. With any and every goal there must be a road map which will detail how we plan on traveling from start to finish. Along this journey there must be ways to measure and gauge our progress to ensure success.

This being my first attempt at creating a training plan, there will definitely be unexpected bumps in the road. This hopefully will provide for education amongst other athletes attempting similar feats. An average week will consist of; 8-12 hours of training, +50 hours of work, and any time left over will be designated to sleep and blogging.

Will this be fun? Absolutely! Let the journey begin. I thank you for your support and encouragement during this ambivalent task. My goal is to blog twice a week, to share my weekly goals and to follow up with a detailed review of what actually occurred.

My final thought is for those of you who aid in the prevention of others achieving their goals, a.k.a. Dream Stealers. Stop it! You’re a drain on society. Do us all a favor and find your passion, which challenges you to achieve more.
